I've had two VHS Recorders just die. What is killing them?

Two VHS machines have died on me in the space of two years. I hardly use them so they are not getting worn out. Both just died and wouldn't power up. Any ideas?

John, I have tried this and plugged other things into the same wall socket. The wall socket is fine.

I have seen these new anti-surge products in shops. I might try one of these just to be on the safe side.

You do not give much information, but I would first check to see if they fire up in another socket, as it sounds initially that you may have a fault with your wall socket as apposed to the VCR!
