The System makes the ice in the freezer - it is then blown via a fan into the fridge.

Behind the shelves in the Freezer will be a plastic plate/facia, behind that will be a polystyrene cover and behind that will be the Ice making Pipes and a big chunk of ice blocking the air flow into the fridge!

MAKE SURE THE M/C IS UNPLUGGED

Simply defrost and put back together and said m/c will work until the ice builds up again and blokes the flow of air.

MAKE SURE THE APPLIANCE IS UNPLUGGED - as it is going to get wet.... Ice+heat=WATER + electric bad lol

Sometimes the defrost timer or defrost heaters will be broken, this will cause this problem to be regular.

If this isnt the case, it sounds like the system is low on gas. think of it like a radiator with hardly any water - struggle to get hot!! the same principle.

Had this happen twice with two different fridges (neither was your make), and this usually happens because the mechanism that measures the temp in your fridge fails. If you are lucky your fridge has a thermostat that can be replaced. There is a universal one that fits most fridges.

If you are less lucky there is no thermostat and you need to replace the part that does the equivalent. In many Zanussi models this is the "power board" behind the temp controls. Looks a bit like a PC motherboard or some other circuit board.

A third possible cause is that your freezer coils have too much ice built up and coolant is prevented from going up to the fridge, or the vent that circulates cool air into the fridge is frozen shut. Treatment is to defrost the freezer coils which tend to be behind a panel at the back or top of the freezer.

My advice is to ring the manufacturer or spare parts supplier and explain the problem. They will at least be able to help you work out how the fridge is cooled, whether there is a thermostat, etc.
