how can i fix my electrolux petrol mower?

the cord has become too tight to pull.

I am not sure what you mean by too tight to pull. Remove the sparkplug and try to pull the cord. If it still wont turn, check one more thing, it the mower has a dead man safelt the lock the flywheel to stop it check to make sure that is working. That would be a bar that you have to pull to the handle to start and stop the mower. If it doesn't have the try to spin the blade by hand WITH THE SPRK PLUG REMOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it still wont spin, either your shaft is bent, internal problems, or the flywheel is jammed. Check flywheel first then others.
