Layman needs to mend Hoover TV630 Tumble Drier?

Have read previous questions and responses, however as I have no idea with electrics need advice on how to replace or bridge the thermal fuse on this tumble drier. Quite happy to have a go but need some assistance. A. Where can I find the thermal fuse (apears to be the problem)? or B. how can I bridge the thermal fuse? Net diagrams found not particularly good at identifying relevant parts. Ta

Hi Gareth

I recently fixed the thermal fuse on my TV630, It is located on the inside of the heater element, It was a bit of a pain but it worked I got the part from Maplins, unfortunately it only lasted for 3 weeks and then all went cold again! I would advise you to just replace the Heater element as a whole as Hoover have brought out a redesigned heater for the TV630 with different thermostats, in twin configuration rather than the single thermal fuse. I only say do this because it is so much easier to fix, the heater is a doddle to change and I got one for £23 from ASD Services. It would also be safer than changing the fuse too, It is a bugger to get to and you would need a precision soldering iron.

What ever you decide, Good Luck

Let me know how you get on and/or If you need any more info, just post on here and I'll check it now and then.

Hi Gareth
Sorry, can't help with location. I fixed our drier thermal cut years ago but M/C was a different make and too long ago for info to be relevant now. I'm replying only to say please don't bridge out the TCO which performs an essential safety function in preventing burned contents, machine and possibly surroundings if thermostat fails.

Haynes, publishers of the well known DIY motor repair manuals, also do one on domestic appliances which may be helpful. Maybe your public library would have, or could get, a copy for you to borrow. If all else fails Halfords sells them.

Hope you get it fixed OK but take care!

Bill
