It is a very tight fit but you have to put belt round motor pulley first then feed hafway round drum spindle and turn drum until it pulls belt on,mind your fingers!!

Mine machine has done exactly the same.
A jumper got caught in the door seal and it twisted so much that I believe the belt slipped off.
I have removed the back panel (why do they only allow you to remove a small portion) and the lid but try as I might I cannot get the belt back on.
The belt does not have any stretch to allow me to get it on both the drum wheel and the engine.
Is there anything you can loosen to do this?

belt has come off for a reason, check drum bearings for excessive play before refitting along with the trueness of the drive wheel
