Colors on my JVC television model C-1918 (1988) no good?

The colors on my jvc television are gone...I get the color green in the center of the screen and the color purple all around the picture???
Someone told me it could be something to do with the power supply??...what does it mean and do you think I can fix it?

Sounds like you need to have it degaused or demagnetized in simpler terms. What I did when I had that problem is .I took around 100 feet of 22guage wire.I taped one end to a large cooking pot (left the end accessible to splice for the ground the other end you can splice the + into it)and started looping the wire around the pot. When that was done I simply took an old ac power cable and spliced it into the end of wire that was loose.(remove pot after done looping wire)Put a switch on between the 2 wires and took a plastic coat hanger and made a handle for it.It should look like a magnifying glass with out the glass when youre done.Turn the switch off and plug it in.Hover the loop aroung 1/4 inch from the screen and turn it on.You will hear a humming noise it might even vibrate and the looped wire will get hot(hence the plastic coat hanger for the handle)Once turned on swirl the loop around the screen in a circular motion once or twice and turn the loop off.All this is done with the tv on.Turn the tv off and turn it on again to see if the colours have gone back to normal. You shouldnt need to pass the degauser more than 2 times.I kow it sounds dangerous but if done right you will not be harmed lol.If unsure about my instructions just look up homemade degauser on google and youll be able to find instructions there

Your potentiometer might need to be cleaned
