What can cause a leak that appears the on outside of a shower wall?

The outside wall of the tub/shower enclosure is wet one foot off of the floor. It is on the wall with the water supply lines and shower head inside it. I removed the access panel for the plumbing and everything inside that area is bone dry and there is no visible leaks when the water is turned on. No water comes through to the floor. Can anything other than a misplaced shower curtain be casue of this?

Water has a mind all of its own, it gets to places and leaves us to wonder how. I guess all you could do is a process of eleimination. Try not to use the shower for a while and see if it dries up. if it does dry up then run the shower directly down the drain so there is no chance of it going down curtains walls etc. If all is still dry then the leak is finding a gap and running down the wall as opossed to a leaking pipe inside the wall.
