I have a Renault Megane 1997 1.6 which doesn't start or make any attempt to. I recently brought a new battery which didn't make a difference so I called out the breakdown for a home start who had no problem starting it with the booster cables. The starter motor seems to be ok. Not sure whether it could be a problem with the immobliser? I have also heard that the coil(s) on the megane can be problematic. Can you help?

I had a similar problem with my 1996 Renault Megane 1.6RXE (engine cutting out for no apparent reason).

It was solved by a new set of spark plugs and cleaning the connection terminals on the fuel injector ports with a piece of fine sandpaper.

Gove it a try, but I expect the breakdown people tried that already (or at least I hope so !)
