The MMC for my phone that is removeable needs to be formatted and everytime I try it comes back that's corrupt.

If it's an SD card or micro SD, you could try a really useful utility for formatting SDCards. You will loose any data on the card, but it should then be fully functional.

Make sure you download, read and understand the manual as well.
