Which is cheaper the motor on a Murray Lawn Mower or buy a new mower?

The motor on our lawn mower is wore out and needs to be replaced. My son says that it would be cheaper to buy another riding lawn mower. Is he right? We have a riding Murray Lawn Mower with 42 inch cut. I think the motot is briggs/stratten.
We bought the mower from Walmart. It has an automatic transmission, which I am glad of. No more gears for me. I can't find the papers on it right now.

Yes it would be cheaper to just get another mower unless you know someone or yourself that can install anew engine but if the motor is wore out so are the components on it as the deck and balde bearings ect .....if you aren`t mech inclined and don`t mine replacing wore out parts ,,go for new one
