Is it hard to repair a B & S small engine?

I have a yardman with a B & S 13 hp engine. It will start ok but
it make a very loud noise when running and no power to move.
Sounds like metal hitting. Model 28n707, type 0166-0 code 9605.

You will need to look at certain items in engine one being the crankshaft ......if its grooved from lack of oil it might be cheaper just to replace the engine ....I had a 3 hp that did the same thing and was going to rebuild it till I found out the crankshaft was $85.00...........but have rebuilt alot that never made a sounds and they looked bad .......

That 28N707 had history of a problem with insufficent lubrication to the PTO bearing. If you pull the sump off the bottom and find the bushing is shot you may have to replace the entire sump. Before going that far check the crankshaft where it goes through the bushing to make sure it isn't gouged up.
