FIX RYOBI CHARGER?

18 VOLT, RYOBI BATTERY CHARGER DOES NOT WORK --DISPLAYS NO LIGHTS WHEN PLUGGED IN.
MICHAEL2718, August 2009
My Ryobi P118 Charger stopped working with no charge lights.

It comes apart easily -- after you buy a T15 security Torx screwdriver. A 1/4" bit is too big to fit the hole in the plastic.

There was a gob of carbonized crude on the primary side near C29. I just cleaned that up with some 90% isopropyl and a toothbrush and dried it thoroughly with a hair dryer.

After powering up, it worked fine. There is also a fuse soldered in which you can check. Mine was good.

CAUTION: The Primary voltage was 145 volts on my charger so make sure it has been unplugged for 30 minutes to let everything discharge before opening it up.
