How can i fix my cassette player?

Hello,
I own a Panasonic CD stereo system:Model SA-CH52. It is a combination of 3 disc CD player;Tuner & Tape player. It's about 8 years old. It has 2 tape decks. Deck 1 for playback & Deck 2 for Record- Playback. The problem that I'm having is that Deck 2 is "eating" the tapes. I have tried cleaning them. Please help.
Thank You

i have the same exact panasonic stereo SA-CH52. my deck 2 has similiar problems. check to see if both sprockets are turning when you play a tape. one got loose on mine and caused mine to not work right. try playing a tape in both directions as this is a auto reverse deck. try putting the deck in play mode without a tape in there. you can do this by holding your finger under the sensor that senses the tape and hit the play button and also check to see if the pinch roller and capstan are working properly.

it could be the pinch roller the black rubber round wheel that encages with the capstan it could be shiney and not gripping the tape causing it to ride up the capstan if you cant get a new pinch roller you can roughen the surface with some wet and dry then clean with a solvent like meths
