What's causing the CD player problems in my stereo?

2 problems have developed with my Pioneer XR-P1500C stereo.

1) The CD tray doesn't rotate when I push the "Disc" button unless I physically lift the tray up. It's a 3 CD tray.

2) Frequently, the CD tray won't slide open when the "open/close" button is pushed.

I have removed the case, but don't see anything that might be causing these problems. The above also occurs when I use the remote.

I've disassembled the unit. I've tried removing the CD tray, but I don't see how to remove the power cable that is attached to it so it can be removed from the unit.

Could this be a belt problem?

I replaced the 2 drive belts and that corrected the problems.
