The key thing is to find ANY satellite by tilting backwards. Just get anything with a strong signal. This will make sure you are pointing to the ring of satellites.

Lock off the up an down movement and then move side to side you should see each satellite come in turn until you find the one you want using the satellite set up menu.

To get the best quality needs VERY small movements,

Had the same trouble to start then found out dish angle not correct, lean the dish back from vertical 2-3 degrees makes a lot of difference. can also by a sat signal strength meter for about £10-£15. signal direction can be found on dishpointer.com - google map pinponts your house and which direction satellites are in relation to you. I'm 65 if I can do it anybody can.

My kit came complete with a satellite finder, but that was pretty useless. Then someone told me that doing it with that satellite finder was like looking for a needle in a haystack and that what I needed was a serious piece of kit the likes of which professional aerial installers use (and of course at high cost). I'm so disillusioned I'm thinking either of getting a Sky dish, which I've avoided as I only want the Freesat channels, or a high gain digital aerial which may have the advantage of being able to connect it up to my two other TVs without the need for set top boxes on the other two. Can someone please reassure me that it wasn't money straight down the drain? Thanks.

I bought one of those and its the best deal I've had yet.
Were some problems getting going though, mainly because the box was not set to default on purchace.
So first fight your way thro' the setup and set to "default" when you find it.
This will set up to the correct transponder.
Then adjust aerial slightly in the correct direction according to compass and you will see the quality signal when you have found the correct transponder.
Adjust elevation and directions in very gradual amounts until the best quality signal is achieved.
Finally twist the LNB(clockwise?) to get best Q.
Then its done.
I achieved 70% Q.

Hi i'm having the extact same problem, tried every angle going still nothing :-( seems like a big waste of money and time spent on the roof.

It sounds as though your dish is not aligned to the sattelite correctly. Go to Philex technical site to find out how to do this.

Sounds like dish alignment to me. Use a cheap sat finder to fix it. (Those kits usually come with one.)
