I have an Aquatronic 3+ from wickes why does water burst inside?

If i turn my shower on, the water bursts upwards inside on the right hand side. It appears to come out of what looks like an inlet valve. Can anyone tell me what is happening and what i should do please?

If the valve is removed,on top of it is a cover held in place against a seal by a circlip. I solved the problem on my shower by putting a packer under the circlip to put more pressure on it to push the cover onto the seal harder. This problem gets worse the more water pressure you have.

The only thing i can think of is that the pipe which is connected to the inlet valve is not fitted on properly. Was it fixed by a professional or D.I.Y.?
