I keep getting a message on the screen antenna short circuited.also doi connect the hdmi cable to tv or just the scart cable. or both . someone please help

You need to check the aerial lead connectors.

If both devices have HDMI, use HDMI (It will give better picture quality.) and do not connect the SCART.

BTW, do not buy expensive HDMI cables. A sixty quid cable is no better than one at under a fiver. The the digital technology used cannot be improved by using posher cables.)
