epson C42 Parts at end of life?

I have an epson C42, inkjet printer.had a message on screen saying get it serviced ,parts at end of life.Service will cost more than value.Bought a download from Ebay to re-set it but still have to fit new waste pads.Any ideas on this last point?

Fix it for £12.50.

Pop along to TheServiceManualShop-dot-com (http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com) and buy a rescue kit for your machine. It tells you how to remove the ink pads fopr cleaning instead of replacing with new ones, and provides the software to reset the ink counter which has reached it's limit.

£12.50 is much less than a new printer!!

Open it up and check the waste pads, see how bad they are. If they are not soaked do not worry about it.
The pads are only designed to soak up so much ink,, after which time ink will possibly overflow the pads and onto the bottom inside of the printer. Worst case scenario some may come out from the bottom eventually.

Bin it and buy a newer model, as you said it'll probably cost more for the spare parts not to mention the hassle of having to repair it yourslef. You can pick up an epson D68 for about £35 if you shop around (try www.scan.co.uk)
