is it a 2 stroke 125 with a malossi kit on it?if so the light is only a a level warning light that works of a resistance to earth.it basically sends an earth to the switch in the oil tank to a switchand then when the switch drops down it connects the two earths and lights up the oil oght bulb that already has a live going to it.so it means the earth wire that goes from the tank to the bulb is earthing out along its route !i would suggest this to save a lot of taking apart.suss out what wire goes to the light from the switch and cut it up by the clocks and put a new wire in from there to the wire as it just goes into the oil tank i bet it goes out then.
