hi- avoid so call glass repair tools- they just make a mess. First of all start with glass paper and water and smooth chip down avoiding scratchin the glass round about the chip. then your glass will be usable but you will be able to see the repair.
If you want to make your glasses look perfect it is then a professional job as the only way to get the original finish back is to grind down the glass beyond the point where the chip is, then use a cork belt on a machine with water to polish the rim back up. The glass will end up being a little shorter.
You can always ask a glazier if he knows a stained glass person as sometimes they will have the right tools and techniques.
