Hi I have a speedfight 2 and I have recently put a new piston and barrel on it and I have also put a new fuel tap and a new choke on it now it won't start using petrol it will only start using carb cleaner. Has a good spark and good compression all lights work. When it starts using carb cleaner it will only stay running for a little while and as soon as you put revs on it dies and cuts out.

also, if its the vacuum type fuel tap, it should have a rubber vacuum tube running from the tap to another spigot somewhere near the front of the carb, when connected and when the engine is turned over to start, the vacuum in the inlet tract causes a diaphragm to open in the fuel tap letting the petrol through.

you may need to alter the air intake on the carburettor.it is a small screw on the side of the carb screw it all the way in, then screw it out one and a half turns,if this doesent cure it try re jetting the carburettor you can buy jets from most scooter dealers.also the new fuel tap may not be letting enough fuel to the carb or the fuel pipe is too small.
