Passat TDI parking sensor problem?

Folks, I have a passat TDI 2001. The parking sensors have a problem and do not work. Could you please give some advice on where I can get hold of a sensor and how do I remove the faulty sensor ???

Your help is very much appreciated.

Hi John, yes a diagnostic should point you to a failed sensor, also check fuse 31 (15amp) in fusebox inside the car, this is for the reversing lights, if the reverse light system is'nt working, either the fuse or the switch on the gearbox have failed, the reverse parking sensor system will not activate.

If you would like a copy of the wiring diagrams contact me on nige110162(at symbol)hotmail.co.uk

Hi Nigel,

Will check the connectors in boot first. I guess I will need to get a diagnostic check performed to diagnose which sensor is at fault ??

Your help is greatly appreciated.

The sensors will be a main dealer only part, there are three part numbers depending on your chassis number
4B0919275A, 7M3919275 or 7M3919275A, they can be replaced without removing the bumper

Note:

It is not necessary to remove the rear bumper.

First switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

Press back both sender securing tabs.
Press out sender inwards from outside of bumper.
Remove connector.

Have you checked the control unit connectors in the boot behind the right side trim?
