2000 vw passat wagen with a cracked oil pan, how do i fix myself?

is it difficult to replace the oil pan myself on this car, or is there something difficult about it that is going to make me have to take it to the dealership to be fixed? the crack is small but loosing quit abit of oil. it is the front oil pan with the censor and the filter in it. right now there is jb weld on it to keep it from leaking but there is still a small drip and i need to have it fixed but would like to do it myself. don't know much about vw's.

I just cracked the pan on my 01 jetta last night and came across your post.

It's really not that big of a job, $100-$200 in parts for the pan and maybe a gasket or silicone seal.

If you are handy, you can get it done in half a day.

check out vwvortex.com forums for lost of good VW info!
