How can I fix my 2001 Renault Scenic 1.9dti excessive water usage problem?

Hi, I have a Renault Scenic 1.9dti MPV and the car is using water. After a 40klm run the radiator header tank needs about 500ml to top it up to the correct water level and the car runs at normal temperature. There do not appear to be any leaks and when the car stops there is no water dripping out from anywhere. About 3 months ago I had the radiator flushed and refilled with coolant and water. The car has always used ordinary tap water it had never had any radiator coolant in it before as I live in a hot climate.

Any thoughts on this problem will be appreciated.

I think you have made a mistake not putting any anti freeze in your cooling system,it is there to stop corrosion etc building up internally, whether your problems are due to this is difficult to say but if you can`t see any leaks then it must be using water within the engine itself, you will have to decide if the cyl.head has to be removed to check the gasket etc and in future I would use a 50/50 mix of a/freeze/water regardless of wherever you live, good luck.
