My kitchenaid professional series stand mixer won't turn on?

My professional series kitchenaid stand mixer won't turn on. The power is fine. The last time I used it, it got hot to the touch and had a bad smell. I turned it off immediately. And now, nothing! Help!

Did it make a growling, raspberry sort of noise just before it expired?
