Is it normal that the flame is burning all the time?

Hi, I've just moved into a flat with a Glow-worm space saver 38 and I have zero experience with boilers whatsoever. It seems to be working fine, I'm Just curious whether the tiny flame inside should be burning all the time? Even if it's not actually set to hear the water?
Thanks for your advice

It's probably the pilot light. That's an old boiler with an efficiency of maybe 65%. A modern condensing boiler would manage more like 90%.

If you've not got a manual you should be able to find it online.
