Hotpoint WMA48 Won't Spin?

Hi , my Hotpoint Aquarius Extra WMA48 has stopped spinning.
At first, I did not hear it emptying, so I took apart the drain hose and cleaned the filter assembly (with the 'ping pong' ball).
It now drains nicely, but will not kick into spin mode. just plods around turning as if in wash cycle.
Any ideas out there...???

Regards,
Mick...

wma models are usually too young to have brush problems, unless you use it ALOT. If its not the brushes, I've had a few that have blown the track off its little brain.

Self answered question...
Seems like the brushes on the motor need changing.
After reading several posts, I tried to use the spin while the drum was empty and it worked.
Apparently this means the brushes are in need of replacement,
Hope this info may help someone else in the future
