my toshiba d-vr35sb dead?

my toshiba just wont fire up checked power suplies fuse etc power to on button /standby ok but still nothing happens

Yes - this IS an answer! I took my DVD/video player to The Repair Man and he fixed it in no time. It needed the diode in the power supply replacing. He also replaced the capicitor as he said it was leaking. So there you are.

Sorry this is not an answer!!! The same thing has happened to me - again I have checked fuses (plug and internal) and they are OK. The strange thing is that it went dead when my electric kettle threw the trip switch for the socket circuit in the house. Resetting the trip switch did not bring it back to life. I have tried plugging into other 'live' sockets to no avail. It must be a power unit problem.
