How can i fix the electrial problem on my escort 1.8si.The problem is the rear wiper the rear fog light and heated rear screen doesnt work and the boot switch doesnt when anyone of these are tried the lights on the dashboard switches illuminate all fuses are ok is it an earthing problem?

You could also try replacing the contact plate, just had to do this on mine for same reasons. Just under £20 from ford.

could be, i used to have an escort with various faults on tailgate and had to run a separate earth (i think they earth through hinges but as they get older poor connections occur).i took wire from earth point on o/s inner wing ,up along seal, through washer tube grommet,down inside tailgate to earth point,took a while but cured fault and neat/hidden wire.
