how can i get more mid range power from my astra 1.6 sxi?

i have a 2004 vauxhall astra 1.6 sxi, its lacking a little bit of poke in low rev's, i don't want a rocket ship and a super chip only add's 5bhp so is not worth the cost, would changing the back box or the air intake system improve performance

yes, there are loads of ways. Putting an after sale air filter like a k&n instead of the big box. changin the whole exhaust system to a paired cylinder one which means wen the exhaust comes out of the engine it mite hit another exhaust thats coming out of a cylinder, but with a paired cylinder one if the firing order is 1342, 1 and 4 are paired and 3 and 2, this gives the exhaust a chance to get out of the manifold wen the second cylinders exhaust is going thus improvin the amount of back pressure. changin the throttle body or carburetor will help. changin the intake manifold and then after all this adding a super chip it will add more than 5 bhp. getting a cylinder head that has more valves for intake and exhaust. porting the intake and exhaust which means makin the holes bigger meaning more will be let in. umm email me if u want more or how to do that stuff. robertsbad@hotmail.com
