Hotpoint Aquarius WM63 not draining?

I have an Aquarius WM63 washer/dryer that will not drain/rinse. I have checked various possibilities:
The filter is not blocked.
Water outlet from drum housing not blocked.
The pump is not clogged/blocked/broken impeller and works fine if connected directly to mains voltage. (I did this to empty the machine!).
Have checked wires between PCB and pump for continuity - all ok.
Have visually checked PCB for any obviously blown components - nothing obvious, but I'm no electronics expert!

Having tried all the above, I'm suspecting the timer/controller or maybe dodgy component on PCB but have no way of testing these. I have contacted Hotpoint who advised that - "under new regulations we cannot give out any technical advice"!
Does anybody have any bright ideas before I give in and scrap it??
Many thanks

Does anyone know what the outcome for Dave's problem was? I have exactly the same: no blockage, pump working but not getting the message to drain during the cycle.

I realise this thread is probably dead and we are now into 2009 but this is the only query which replicates mine. I have had the same problem with my WM63 and replaced the timer and pump. The old pump was fine after testing it direcly to the mains as is the new one! The two wires from the timer to the pump check ok for continuity, however there isn't any power going to the pump when checking during the drain/spin cycle. The actual wash programmes themselves work fine???!!!

Any Ideas?

hi dave, i have a hw63, and i would save my mony and go for a new programer, as on these you will find three small switches one is for the pump if it gone and packed up you could try and get one from maplins to replaces it, but dont hold your breath it will work for long, you will see on the timer bord a big ic this is the brains for this washer if its packed up then its had it and only a new bord will get it going again, however when you can get a fatory recon washer (hotpoint) for £170.00p is it worth the hasel, how old is it? an hw63 is no spring chicken, and the bearings are old, and a right pain to replace as well! so its your move now, if i was you i would very very carfully test the switch to see it its switching first befout doing any more to the pump, but be warned your working on a live machine, like 230volts ac!!!!!!! and if you fu*k up it will bite you, and the timer is in a bitch of a place to work on, if its still live!!!! you will also find out that hotpoint is very sringent with there whire like its cut only just to fit with no spere, to lift the timer out, so dont pull it to hard coz the conections will come off?
well good luck on winning,

Hi Paul
Thanks for a quick reply. With the pump in place and connected separately to the mains, I have actually sat thro a rinse cycle switching the pump on & off manually as required - it seems to operate fine then. However doing it this way the m/c would not refill until the final rinse before going in to the spin cycle. At one point it sat doing nothing until I physically moved it on thro the program. When doing it this way the pump works fine everytime.
It would appear that voltage is not reaching the pump when it should - can't get a voltage reading during the rinse cycle - but the leads between PCB & pump check out ok for continuity. This is what made me think that maybe the PCB or controller/timer is stuffed! Whaddya reckon - still think its worth buying another pump??

Those pumps are very tempremental (soz bout the spelling). It's probly the pump, change it. It will work when it's off the machine, then fail 10 mins later. Only £10 for a new one, so you might as well try it.
