Motor of Indesit WGA 1036 TX will not spin?

Our washing machine stopped functioning :(
But everything appears to be ok *except* for the motor which will not spin.

I don't know what the connections on the motor are for, could anyone help me on that?

The wires are grouped 3 - 1 - 2 and the three are for the big currents; i measured about 50V~ on those doing nothing and 0-1V~ in 'operation'.
The 2 are thinner and for a sensor / startmotor orso. 0 voltage measured.
The 1 wire I don't have a clue.

The motor is a MCA 38/64 - 148/AD
12800 n - 1.5A - 350W
220/240V - 50Hz - cl. B/F

There is a (digital) circuit close to the motor with 5520-(1000 RPM) containing a chip (by ELDO) and a triac BTB16/600BW. Since the motor never gets its 230V I blame this circuit.

Besides how the wiring of the motor is done... how use a triac for regulating the rpm? those things are for dimming lights, motors will not like the distorted waveform.

A search on this site lead to finding the statement that 'the modulator might be defect' for a non-spinning motor.

Can anyone explain this 'modulating' with the triac and perhaps where I can get another PCB.

Thanks in advance; more details might be available!

the motor has burned out replace it (plaese tell me the motor model which is located on the botton of it and i can find you a new one)

Same problem here. Also a destroyed contact. A bit of soldering solved the problem. thanx.

Richardf thanks for the quick reply.

So I decided to take another look at this PCB and pulled out the connectors: The contact on the print was destroyed by a spark.
I cut the adjacent wire and soldered it onto the print, and guess what:

The washing machine spins again!! :) x 1036

Thanks again for the support.
And to all those out there with a broken machine: there is still hope, those things can really be fixed and it need not be difficult to do. ;)

Happy greetings,

By modulator, they mean speed module. Usually a small pcb between 3-4" long, sometimes/often has aluminium heat shield on it. Usual cost about £20.00.
