Diplomat Range Oven door slightly open?

Hi when I moved I aquired a diplomat range oven. The door has always been slightly open and the hob knobs get extremely hot. I'm not sure if this is the design of the cooker or the door is broken. Any advice would be great, thanks.

Hi Barry, just checked website so late reply sorry!
Apparently this ia common fault something to do with the hinges. The door is too heavy and eventually the door will fall off and need repairing. Hope this helps

Hi Alyson,
I dont know if you found out why the oven door does not close properly but if you did I would welcome some advice because I've got exactly the same problem?

Sounds like the hinge mechanism has become strained (common). there's a link mechanism that connects the hinge arm to a spring - this is quite weak and [as we have just discovered for a second time!] eventually fails completely and then the door has no support at all and won't close! So beware if it's hot and this happens.
