Hotpoint FDW60 Sandy Remains?

I've had this in the dishwasher for ages, on the top shelf only, the items have a type of 'sand' over them and then have to be re-washed by hand. I've cleaned all the filters etc, used dishwasher cleaners on a regular basis but still happens.

Any ideas?

This happens when the items are placed such that the water and "sandy" deposits can settle in cavities. Place the items so that they drain naturally. The sandy deposits will then be pumped out with the waste water.
