I have a Kenwood dishwasher KDW12ST3A, it's stopped working?

I have a Kenwood dishwasher KDW12ST3A, it won't go on to a cycle, and keeps on bleeping showing the initials E4, what does this mean as i have lost my instruction manual.

I have a kenwood 60s10 and the door will not close, I can't set a programme and I just have two dashes in the led display. There is no reset button. Can anyone help please.

Hi,

I am trying to fix our Kenwood KDW 1274w washing up machine. First I had an E4 error message. I had took the machine apart, and i found a pipe not connected. I fixed it and put the machine together again. While I was fixing it, the machine was laying on its side...
I started it again and I do not have the E4 message anymore, BUT...
The pump is not running. The time counts back on the display, no error message, the machine filled itself up with water, but nothing going on. Only a big silence.
There was no problem with the pump before.
Do you have any idea what to check?

Thanks very much

We have Kenwood KDW12ST3A and the hinges/hooks at the bottom on both sides which should hook into the door are stuck and only travel a short distance, meaning that we can't shut the door, Can anyone help?

Richard, January 2014
Hat's off to Andy from me too. Just spent the best part of three hours taking mine apart, to find that the flap valve was broken. Removed it and all is well again. The cynic in me says that these were designed to fail after a few years! Oh, and why the hell didn't they design it so that if it did fail, it would be the half-wash that didn't work?

Nick, December 2013
My little boy pulled down on the door and broke the switch on the door so I changed that but it seems the door is still not closing properly and I can't put a programme in as its not come on any ideas what's wrong hinges maybe ???

Brent, April 2013
Re. Bottom arm not rotating on Kenwood D/washer. What a star that Andy [March 2011]is! I had the same symptom and effected the same solution. I'm now in the process of framing the flap valve to display it and say how clever I'm feeling. Many thanks, Andy

Terry, October 2012
Hi can anyone suggest how to fix the programme button, I have power so it's not that but when you try and select a programme nothing happens ??

Rachel, October 2012
E4. Water pump. Just had that message and replaced the water pump and it's back to normal.

OlaMaster, August 2012
I have a kenwood KID60510 dishwaher and it doesn't clean anymore as the water doesn't heat up i.e. it tries to wash with cold water. It's only 1 1/2 years old, any simple solutions or thoughts on whether its worth getting it fixed.

Richard D, June 2012
E1 error code is not enough water/ water pressure after ten minutes.
Can be caused by the antifllood switch on the base stopping the water from flowing because its activated. Tipping may help drain the little polystyrene float...
Caveat being if you have water down there..you have a leak
Poor quality soap can cause problem as noted above.
~I am taking mine apart for the 3rd time to run down a leak
~We replaced some clamps with Jubilee clips.
and they were perhaps too large allowing it to leak enough to trip the switch
`There is a way to make the machine enter a diagnostic mode
which will allow you to cycle each item fill drain etc.
Pressing eco and regular wash and the power button or something like that brings you to a 00 code and then each press of the button shows a new code and cycles the pump etc

E4 Fault, Yes tipping the thing to 45 degrees will work, however. Does anyone know how to stop this fault reoccurring?
I'm fed up with having to keep doing this every couple of weeks. I have checked that the hose is clear and not kinked but really, this is ridicules!
It’s about time Currys/Indesit/Kenwood withdrew this product and gave us all our money back!!!

Carole, April 2012
Hi did yu ever find out what this meant I have this problem now can anyone help ??

Linda, April 2012
I have the same dishwasher it reads an e3 error, from what i have read it means that water not heating up????? is that correct or is it just a tilt like you have all done. it has been transported in my car on its back so i cant see that helping.

Simon, January 2012
I did as suggested tipped at 45 degrees towels placed to water to come out and now working fine, many thanks for advice.

Trish, December 2011
1, the kenwood dishwashers are made under license through currys with indesit.

2, any problems get in touch with currys.

3, they are poor quality, makes you wonder about the fact they are indesit dishwashers rebranded.

This answer is for Moggy2 who asked;

''The bottom arm isn't spinning resulting in nothing on the bottom tray being cleaned. Any help?''

I also had the same problem. I checked to ensure that there were no blockages. Once I found that this was not the problem I had to open the machine. I took off the back, top and side covers to access the reticulation pump. On the side of the pump is the solenoid valve that controls the flow of water to the bottom arm. I found that the valve was broken and stuck in the closed position. As i was unable to source a replacement valve I just put it back minus the broken flap (valve). My argument is that since i never use a 1/2 cycle and also have a full dishwasher there is no point at which i would want the bottom arm not to operate. Its working fine now!! Hope this helps

Andy, March 2011
My dishwasher is coming up with the E1 error. It works sometimes and other times it wont. I know the manual says it something to do with water pressure, but has anyone had the same thing? And if so, how did you fix it?

Abby, March 2011

Moggy2, March 2011
Just want to say thanks a million for this blog! My Kenwood stopped emptying and I took the advice and completely got rid of all visible water. Did not need to put the machine on its back - justused a cloth and made sure I could not see any water at all and it seemed to work! The machine is running again. For now. Thanks for saving me money!

KENWOOD KDW12ST3A Im just taking mine apart, and see that there is a cut off switch, also found on the inlet pipe water can escape if to much pressure, this is normal, its designed to collect all water in the bottom tray from what i can see, my issue is the machine will only get part way through a cycle, then stops at 200 then E3, then pumps the water out does any one know what this problem is ?

Robin, July 2010
it will work if you tip it but this cut out switch only comes on when water causes it to switch so there must be a leak i striped mine down and found it was caused because i had loosend the bottom arm on the inside seams to work ok now point is please try to find out why its triping or it might be a new floor as well as new dishwasher ps not that hard to strip down just keep record of were screws go as i got loads left over lol

mfozzey, June 2010

Amanda, March 2010
Well Cindy thanks for that, mine was showing E4, opened up still full of water, read your comment about the reset button so felt under the front and what a rush 240v through me to earth, what a rush!!!!!!!. Water and this electrickery dosent mix. BE WARNED

JPTOFF, January 2010
Always check on the underneath of the dishwasher at the front, there is a reset button! I know people that have called out engineer and paid them £90 just to press this button. My dishwasher just kept bleeping after I had cleared a blockage and it took only one press of the button to get it going

Cindy Howard, December 2009
Tipping it and checking for blockage in outlet also works for KDW12SL3A . Thanks for info.

Steve_Hod, October 2009

Ian, September 2009
You're all stars - I have the manual, but knowing that E4 means the inlet is full isn't much use until you get told to tip it backwards 45 degrees! Hurrah!

Benser, September 2009
Hey Mine has no errorcode but water is poaring from it...any suggestions, I have tried to tip it but with no avail, I have ran it with no dished in it, its like it not draining any water during its cycle?

dilwyn, March 2009
I have an error code E3 what does this mean

jane, Liverpool, March 2009
Tipping the dishwasher 45 degrees worked for me. I've just got to mop the water off the floor now!

Kay, February 2009
E4 means it s overfilled, according to the manual. Possible cause for this is too much inlet water also according to manual.

caz, January 2009
does anyone know fault e1 please

a aldred, December 2008
Hi I have the same dishwasher. Yes the user manual says too much inlet water ?! Which is completely unhelpful. Anyway, left it for two weeks (whilst on holiday ) and on return the error code had gone and it worked fine. However, has just happened again and this time I have found water on the floor under the dishwasher, so in fact the servivce engineer answer is correct. There is a leak detection switch to shut the dishwater down in the event of a leak, to prevent your kitchen flooding ! Now all you have to do ios work out wheer the water is coming from !

Muncher Mike, December 2008
kdw243a 1p21 this dishwasher door catch not working piece broken

sarah carter, October 2008
Brilliant, tip it back 45 degress just watch out, my one leaked alot of water.

maxine, October 2008
i fix these as an agent for kenwood - E4 fault is antiflood switch has been activated - tipping to remove water from base should work but if you have to do this often there must be a reason! - cheaper detergents/tablets/all in ones DO cause oversudsing which in turn will allow water to seep into the casing base and eventually activate the antiflood float switch system (E4) - also there could be leaking internal hose connections/motor/fittings etc - built-in models are very sensitive to the quality of the installation - poorly fitted machines can suffer with twisting of the casing causing poor closure of the door and hence starting/leakage problems - get a GOOD kitchen fitter or take your time to install - do not use lose blocks of wood to raise the appliance fit a complete board to slide the applance onto

nigel, February 2008
Trust me, this works....tip it back at least 45 degrees for 5 second. You will get a small amount of water come out but it drains the sensor and will reset and work as normal

Jon, February 2008
E4 is Overfilled. Too much inlet water.......

Sam Cook, January 2008
hi-have just bought this model today-the manual says E4 means overfilled, the possible cause is too much inlet water. That's all there is-hope this helps
