It's in the title really, 'Error E06, Unit in safeguard mode remove and reattach battery' Done that but no difference. Reccommendation 'consult your nearest dealer' who wants £150.....
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I am having the same issue (error code E06), however my camcorder will not even let me eject the tape. I REALLY dont want the tape ruined... any help on how to get the tape out, hopefully intact?
Valarie, April 2011
This error E06 is a nuisance. It occurs when a tape or the 'pull wheel' stick, usually after a period of non-use. Eject the tape (it will probably be wrecked!) and insert another with a bit of force and run tape to end and back......use cleaning tape twice......or give it a slight slap!
These cameras sell for about £50 on ebay. Maplin sell HD camcorders for the same sort of figures so do the Math as our US cousins say!! Hope this helps.

"E06" fault...
It does not matter what brand of tapes you use in any camcorder. (thats like saying this car only runs on shell unleaded, any other petrol wont work.)
I have been a camo for many years and there are tapes that perform better than another but they all work. I too have a problem with "E06" I am sure it is the carriage mechanism that has failed. and will not carry the tape to the heads and thus is not passing the sensor that tells you if the tape is in position and then telling the unit as it should there is fault.
take it to the nearest dealer and get it fixed.
no easy fix here that I can see. sorry

Thanks for that. It does seem tape related except when I got the problem there was no tape in it, however having rtfm and discovered how to insert the tape (system totally new to me) I found I could get the camera to operate but on inserting the tape (TDK) it did foul up. One of the replies on the above site did say to only use JVC tape so I will try that.

I've been looking at used JVC digital camcorders and have run across several with the error message you describe. I found the following link to a BB where this problem is discussed in detail:
