How do I fix my Potterton Netaheat MkIIF 16-22?

My boiler starts it's cycle on room stat demand. The internal fan runs, the pilot ignites, after 20 secs the main burner ignites and all is well. The pump appears to work (a)screwdriver to ear and against body of pump b)spindle rotating behind the vent cover) Down stairs rads get slightly warm and then, after about four minutes the main burner shuts down and the pilot remains on. System checked and vented, all seems well. I have replaced the Mercury vapour switch, the pilot ignition system and the 11 pin relay switch with no effect. Having waited eight days for next day delivery, Priceright Heating now tell me the PCB for this boiler is obsolete. Any help would be appreciated

even though pump may sound and look ok, does not mean that it is functioning at all. Replace pump

Hi john, I am interested in buying your netaheat 16-22. Could you call me on 07740 454763 if still available.

West London John - is your old Netaheat still available? I can't fiind spares for my faulty Mk1 (eg gas valve) and I've got a Corgi mate who'll do the work, if I can find a source of spares. I'm not sure if your gas valve will fit, but it's worth trying! I'm in Bromley so can collect. John

I have just had my Potterton Netaheat MkIIF 16-22 replaced even tho' it was in full working order. A friend was going to give me something for it, but has changed his mind without having seen it. The complete boiler with its flue etc is available and appears to be in good condition , would you be interested. Regular yearly/breakdown servicing by British Gas, whose engineers said system was very clean when changing it over. I am based in West London. Buyer collects only.

if pilot lite is staying on that means usually with these that the gas valve main solenoid is faulty-either that or the pilot is not stable onto the electrode

I am a heating eng and I would not suspect the boiler internal parts. The pcb will either work or not. I expect the pump may be worn out or there is a blockage in the pipes. Try turning off rads downstairs and leave one rad on upstairs to see if it circulates. Then try opening others individually. If it struggles to heat more than one change the pump.
