How to replace dc14 power cord?

I accidently cut the electric cord for my dyson 14. Was able to buy a new cord but it looks like the entire vacuum will have to be disassembled to replace it. Is this correct? Can't find any help in owner's manual or dyson website. Live in a very small town with no vacuum repair folks around. Any assistance would be nice.

Patricia,

If you have some undamaged power cord, but short, could you use an in line connector (or plug and socket) to join the cord to the cleaner cable. The cable may be twin only, if so use a smaller two pin connector.
You must get electrical approval for any change.
