Singer model 690 U?

A piece from the bobbin case has half popped out and I can't seem to get it back in place. It is on the right side and forms kind of a crescent shape

Hello Fran,
I think you may be talking about the flat crescent shape tension spring and if it is the bit that fits into the little slot the only way to put it back is to undo the small screws and put it back it in.
