anyone know the correct routing for this alternator belt ( Citroen Relay) ?
mine just broke, so don't have anything to go by ..

Depending on the year of the van, 1st remove the plastic guard from under drivers side arch, 2nd remove wheel arch protector from same arch. 3rd, remove power steering front pulley and belt. 4th, at rear of motor you will see an adjuster slacken the two 13mm bolts, in centre of engine is a roller guide, slide belt off here 1st then off rest of pulleys. Re-route new belt sliding onto centre roller guide last (pig of a job otherwise), tension the belt using the tensioner you slackened (three quarter drive ratchet in square hole and as tight as you can get it), tighten thhe 2 13mm bolts. replace the power steering belt and pulley (this is the hardest job of it all) replace plastic arch covers. Job done.

To remove the alternator belt, you have to remove the tension from it first, obviously. This is done in one of two ways, depending on the system. 1) The alternator may be on a hinged bracket allowing movement 2) The belt tensioner itself may be adjustable. Personally I'd slacken the tensioner first, without removing the bolt completely, and see if the belt comes slack. Chances are it will. Make a note of the route of the belt though - it will likely go via the power steering pump and air conditioning compressor too.
