how do I get at the headlight bulb on a ford mondeo 1997 to replace it?

Pop the bonnet and you will see a black plastic cover round the bonnet catch, it will probably have a yellow aircon label on it. It's held on by 3 pop out retainers, pull them out and remove it. You'll see 2 screws holding the grill on, undo them and unclip the grill, then remove the screw at the inside bracket for the headlight, and the one on the top bracket of the headlight, there's one down behind the headlight but only loosen it off a bit. you can then pull the headlight forward and this will give you access to the bulbs.

Then reverse the above to refit it.

i took mine to a local garage - they said it's very awkward - a kind of elastic band underneath the lip at the front of the bonnet - he removed it, changed the bulb and replaced the cover - had to be taken back as it wasn't fitted correctly - even the professionals can have trouble!
