Can an electric hot water heater be used to generate heat in a home?

If this can be done, where can I the information to do it. Thanks Dan.

Not really Dan - the average hot water heater only runs at around 3kw - fine for small domestic use but to generate home heat you'll need around 25kw so the heater is simply too small.
