lower bobbin problem?

Hi my machine is having a problem with the lower bobbin it seems to be collecting on the underside msaking a right old mess just knotted cotton. there are strange noises coming from it aswell. like the bobbin spinning do i need to replace the bobbin case has it worn? what could the collection of cotton on the underside be please :( yours Dizzy

Unlucky you need to replace anything, parts don't wear out that quick on sewing machines, sounds like the tension has gone to pot, you have not said what make or model you have, start from the beginning, thread the machine up making sure the presser foot is up so the thread goes between the tension discs, top tension usually between 4 and 6, make sure you have the needle in the correct way round, bottom tension should be enough for you to pull the thread through with some resistence, if it is too tight you will need to turn the small screw anti clockwise slightly to loosen it off, if this does not work get back to me with your make and model, some machines are prone to particular problems. drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk
