Nissan Primera warning brake light?

After toping up with brake fluid and checking brake pads the warning light remains constantly on. I've heard that the handbrake electrics could be the problem. If anyone has a simple procedure of rectification I'd be much obliged.

Usually there is a switch operated by the handbrake - trouble is though, its often hidden by the carpet or plastic trim. I think it would be a good idea to check it - even to just rule it out from the equation. You might like to check the pads again - if they have the wear sensors incorporated in them.
