My rover 214 wont start?

When i turn the ignition on my battery light flashes. A new battery light and a new alternator has been put on. When i turn the engine over there is a knocking/ clicking noise. The car wont start at all, the immoboliser and central locking also will not work. Does anybody have any idea what is up with my car? Any help would be more apprecitated!

hi some rovers have a barel problem so if u have a lot of key on your rover key it will not start so just put your rover key and fob and 1key ring and that may work and reset the inmobliers by lock your car 3times and then unlock 1 time

Try changing the 15amp fuse for the door central locking. Just had Green flag out they had no idea then hey presto!!!. This may not work but it did for me and only cost £1

did you ever fix this? I have exactly the same issue - chattering when you try and start the car, plus central locking and immobiliser issues.

I think it's something to do with power. could be a battery or alternator problem.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this one?

hi in my rover when it wont start i take the wire of the top of the starter motor and clean it with sand paper and put it back on and then it starts my uncle also has the same problem and it works for him but make sure the ignition is of or it will give you a belt

hope it helps

Hi Elaine firstly try new plug leads, i think the problem may be the solinide i havent spelt that correctly sorry. What i would do is to remove the solinide from the motor clean with white spirit this is your cheapeast option. What tends to happen is oil mist gets into the brushes of the solinude and slows it down
