Why will my bike not start on the electric start button despitefast crankin?

I have a Gilera DNA 50 motor bike and it start easily on the kick start but it just keeps turning over on the electric start. The battery is brand new and perfect and the engine always starts on the kick. it sounds like it is trying to start on the button but it just always fails. What do you reckon??

thanks for any help you can give!!

ive simplified this for you

take of the side cover (kickstart side) under the variator ( main finnned plate ) is a little gear as you take this out you will see the starter motor gear ,

(no need to remover hte kickstart itself as its all attached to the side cover)

this little gear expands as it spins to the teath come into contact with the cogged large gear

take this little gear and twist it until the bearings are exposed , give it a clean (carb cleaner ) and then a a good greasing

put it all back together , its a 15 minute job

sorted mine out

It sounds like the starter motor is taking so much juice from the battery that there is no current left for the ignition coil. Go over all of the electrical connections, checking that they are clean and tight.
