How can I fix the timing on my Brother PC6500?

Hello. I actually sent this question to your email, but then thought you may rather have it in this form. I am writing about a problem with the timing on my Borther PC6500. My race is not picking up the thread. I later read one of your replies to someone else on how to fix this, which I am in the process of doing. I have the machine completely apart and know that I need to align the hook on the race right above the eye of the needle. The problem is that I cannot find the "screw" on the vertical gear that I need to loosen in order to adjust the race. There is a steel plate in front of the bobbin race preventing me to see completely. I can loosen it to see somewhat behind, but cannot completely take it off. Do you happen to know where the screw is located in order to loosen the race for this particular machine? The hook of the race is missing the thread by probably 1/2". Thanks agian,
