The exhaust air filter on my AEG vampyr 608 black line cylinder vacuum cleaner is behind a panel (in the accessory compartment) that seems impossible to open - I have a new filter to fit but cannot access it. This machine was bought about 1987. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Solved my own problem. The panal opens from the bottom up and is easy to open with a lever from a screw driver. (I was attempting to pull the panel down from the top...) Hope this is helpful to others.
