how can i fix Corsa 1.2 1996 floppy gear stick please?

I went to pick up a friend and out of no where my gear stick gone all floppy and is Stuck on 5th gear. anyone know how i can sort this problem please
sounds like gearchange link rod has dropped off, you could push it back on to get you home but will need a new one. (it must be worn to have come off). p.s. dont try to drive home in 5th -you will burn clutch out!
