my car is making a ticking/vibration noise?? when changing gear (1-5, not reverse) and accelerating. What is wrong???

I get the same sound when changing up gears at low revs. the noise comes from somewhere behind, don't know yet for sure where from. i would say it's the cap of the glove compartment from the righthand side back seat. that's the only thing that passes my mind. if anyone else has another version, please do tell.
